Updates for 02/24/07
12:01 a.m.
Just left the hospital to head back to the hotel. Gavin woke up briefly while I was there, but he was much too drugged up to recognize anything. It is an very odd look that he has when he is sedated, not his usual "sparkle" as momma would say. It's as though he's looking at you, but staring right through you ... very heart wrenching to not be able to communicate with him yet ...
He does appear to be a bit uncomfortable ... having to lie on his back most of the time and not being able to rub his eyes (evidently the morphine makes his eyes itch). We try to stretch and massage him as much as we can to relax him a bit, I'm not sure how much it helps ...
9:00 a.m.
Added a few more pictures below. Update from the nurse was that they had done his chest xray and would be removing the ventilator today (although she wasn't sure if the lung had fully expanded yet). They are also beginning to ween the morphine today.
