Updates for 7/7/06

Greetings and good evening.
It is with great sadness to report that the boys great grandmother (my Father's mother) has passed away this evening due to a severe stroke she suffered from yesterday. I am thankful she was able to see the boys one last time when they travelled up to visit Gavin at the hospital ... I remember how she kept saying that she wanted to take the boys home with her (she's known for pretty much adopting many kids in the neighborhood).

As for the twins, they have their good days and their bad days. I think we've narrowed Gavin's fussiness and crying to taking too much air in while he drinks now (and he doesn't always burp well) ... so it takes a bit of time to calm him down and to get the rest of his bottle down. Nathan's fussiness and crying seems to be that he's just got lots of gas. We just have to keep rocking him and patting his back until he can expel enough to be comforted.

Gavin is up to 7 lbs now and Nathan over 10 lbs, so even with the discomfort, they are both still gaining weight. We'll be travelling down next week to the children's hospital for some more tests and hopefully everything will check out ok there. Since the appointment is in the morning, we're still trying to figure out the logistics of getting there ... it may be best to just load up the family the night before and head down. Since we're down that far, we may make a trip down south for the funeral if all the times line up right ... but that's a big "maybe".

Good night all ... and remember to cherish those hours of sleep and rest. :-)
