Updates for 10/20/2006

Weight 10 lbs 9 oz
Oxygen: 78

Good evening friends. Wow ... time sure does fly by fast. Well, what has happened lately .... Late last month the twins had their regular pediatric appointment ... both received a good bill of health at that time. We're still struggling with Gavin's feeds though ... every feeding is a challenge to try and figure out what he wants to do with it. At this point, he best feeds just as he falls asleep, so we try and schedule around that. Unfortunately, it can be real tough trying to figure out the best way to convince him to sleep (especially with 3 other loud boys in the house).

We switched Gavin over to pure breast milk a few weeks back. The good news is that his intake increased quite a bit, the bad news is that he didn't gain any weight at all, so this week we went back to part formula part breast milk. Although his intake has dropped since going back, his weight appears to be heading north again (although these things go up and down frequently).

Every few weeks or so we send Gavin's to the children's hospital. A few days back, they called and asked us to bring Gavin down for a checkup on Monday the 23rd (much earlier than the planned checkup in November). I'm assuming they didn't like what they saw in his stats. For one, his weight gain was probably a concern ... additionally, his oxygen levels are also decreasing (high 90s are average for healthy hearts, Gavin's norm is usually mid 80's ... he's now trending in low 80's and high 70s) If we get to mid 70s, then there's a definite problem with the shunt in his heart and they'll then go in and do the full repair.

Soooo ... that's where we are today. The rest of the family is doing ok for the most part ... momma and I still don't get any sleep (both the two older boys have colds, so we're getting less sleep than before unfortunately) ... but it's most assuredly a labor of love.

Here are some recent pictures of all the boys ... the two older boys were at the dinner table (thus the messy faces). Isaac and Marcus are in the top two pictures, down below are the twins ... Gavin on the left, Nathan on the right.
